About Melissa Hawks
Melissa Hawks is originally from San Diego and received her undergraduate degree in Physiology from UC Santa Barbara. She went on to receive her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies at Samuel Merritt University in the Bay Area.
Upon receiving her PA credentialing, Melissa joined a Nephrology practice in northern California in 2004. She specialized in the care of dialysis patients and treating all stages of chronic kidney disease. She remained part of that practice until 2017, when she decided to move back to southern California and join Southland Renal Medical Group.
Melissa continues to specialize in care for patients with End Stage Renal Disease. She is an advocate for extensive patient education and supports patients playing an active role in their healthcare.
In her spare time she enjoys traveling, swimming, scuba diving and snowboarding.
