Avedik Semerjian, MD, FACP, FASN

Avedik Semerjian, MD, FACP, FASN, practices at Southland Renal Medical Group, in Long Beach, Downey, Fountain Valley, and Los Alamitos, California, specializing in the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Dr. Semerjian treats patients at all stages of kidney disease, including those suffering from end-stage renal disease.

Dr. Semerjian has successfully extended and improved the quality of life for countless patients with CKD using programs he designed. He partners with social workers, dialysis nurses, and dietitians to help his patients live a fulfilling life. He treats each patient with an individualized care plan focused on evidence-based disease management designed to slow down the advance of the disease.

Dr. Semerjian received his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine of Damascus University in Syria. In 1983, he moved to the United States, where he completed his internal medicine residency four years later at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In 1989, Dr. Semerjian completed his nephrology fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, New Jersey. After, he moved to Southern California, where he co-founded Southland Renal Medical Group with Dr. Ronald Fischman.

In addition to his work at Southland Renal Medical Group, Dr. Semerjian works as a medical director for several local dialysis units and serves on numerous medical committees at local hospitals. He’s fluent in English, Arabic, Armenian, and conversational Spanish, and works with patients from all walks of life.

When he’s not working, Dr. Semerjian enjoys spending time with his family, running, traveling, and listening to classic and Latin jazz.
